Large red calligraphy lanterns over the Honey Chinese dining room

Project 02 · Hospitality · Ember

Honey Chinese

Hand-finished lanterns for a restaurant in Toronto's King West, with custom graphics and site-specific installation.

HomeProjectsHoney Chinese

Lūmm designed, fabricated and installed a custom decorative lighting package that combines hand-finished materials, custom graphics and site-specific installation planning.

The brief

The restaurant needed a custom lighting feature that felt authentic, atmospheric and fully integrated with the interior. The fixtures had to balance decorative impact, practical installation requirements and the visual language of the space.

The element

Ember

Warmth · Hearth

Ember gave the room its warmth. Hand-painted silk lanterns glow low and golden over the tables, so the light gathers people in rather than spreading thin.

The approach

Lūmm coordinated the fixture design, fabrication details, material finishing and installation approach to create one cohesive lighting feature.

What we delivered

  • Hand-finished lanterns with custom painted graphics
  • Fabrication details coordinated with the interior design
  • Every piece reviewed for scale, finish, lighting effect and site fit
  • Site-specific installation planning

The result

The completed installation adds warmth, texture and identity to the interior while supporting the overall design concept of the restaurant.
