The room is one colour, so the light has to do the work, pulling depth out of red velvet, mirror and stone without ever turning it flat.
The brief
Reimagine an existing lounge as an immersive red bar: a new bar, back bar and DJ booth, reworked banquettes and a ceiling that defines the room. Every light source needed to sit inside the architecture rather than hang in front of it.
The element
Aurora
Wonder · Night
Aurora is light for rooms that ask to be remembered. The fringe ceiling and glowing mirror arches give one red room its depth and its moment.
The approach
The fringe ceiling was detailed bay by bay (installation boundaries, drop and density) and developed with fabrication options for the design team to review against finish samples. LED runs are integrated into the bar face, shelving and platform edges so the hardware disappears.
What the lighting does
- A burgundy fringe ceiling runs the length of the bar, moving softly with the room
- Back-bar shelving glows through red-tinted mirror
- The mirror cove frames each banquette in a lit arch
- LED lines under platforms and steps guide guests after dark
- Ten vertical LED lines turn the entry into a red threshold
- A gold ripple-metal ceiling catches light at the ground-floor entrance
