About Lūmm
The studio for light that has to mean something
Lūmm is a Toronto studio that designs, fabricates and installs custom lighting for the architects, designers and homeowners who treat light as a defining element of a space.
Every project is given one natural element to carry it from the first sketch to the last fitting, and one project manager to carry it from concept to installation. Each piece is made by hand in metal and glass, in Canada.

We meet, talk through the space and agree the vision. Together we choose the element the project will carry, and renderings show the result before anything is built.

Custom fabrication
Made by hand in metal, glass, fabric and paper, then finished and assembled in the studio. Every piece is tested before it leaves.

Certified to the electrical standard your project requires. Complex structural pieces also receive an engineering evaluation for integrity and safety.

We work with Canadian artisans and suppliers wherever we can. We build each piece to outlast the trend it was never part of.
The maker
Light is the first
decision
Mark Duarte founded Lūmm in Toronto in 2020, after two decades as an electrician learning exactly how light meets architecture. Under one studio he united craft and intention, working in metal, glass and light alongside the architects, designers and homeowners who believe light is the first decision, not the last.
