This policy explains the cookies and similar storage this website uses, and the choices you have. It sits alongside our Privacy policy.
In short
We use one kind of optional cookie: Google Analytics, which shows us how many people visit and which pages they read. It only runs if you accept it in the banner shown on your first visit. We do not use advertising or social media cookies, and we do not use your browsing for advertising.
Cookies we use with your consent
If you select Accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies on your device:
- _ga. Tells one visitor apart from another with a random number, so we can count people rather than page views. It lasts two years.
- _ga followed by a code for our site. Keeps track of your current visit. It lasts two years.
Google Analytics records the pages you view, how long you stay, the site that sent you, your general location (city or region), and your device, browser and screen size. Google uses your IP address to estimate your location, then discards it. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so this data is not used for advertising. Google processes it in the United States and other countries, and we keep it for 14 months. Google explains its own practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
If you select Decline, or make no choice, the Google Analytics script is never loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
Storage the site needs
These items make the site work or remember a choice you made. They do not track you, so they do not need your consent.
- Your cookie choice. Your browser remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, and when, in its local storage under the name lumm-consent. It stays on your device. We ask again after 12 months.
- Your theme choice. If you switch between the light and dark versions of the site with the bulb in the header, your browser remembers your choice in its local storage, under the name lumm-theme. It holds only the word "light" or "dark", stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the foot of every page. If you withdraw your consent, the site switches Google Analytics off and deletes its cookies from your browser.
You can also clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.
Server logs
Like most websites, our host, Netlify, records basic technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address and browser. This is not a cookie. Our Privacy policy explains how it is used.
Changes to this policy
If we add any other cookies, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
